Day 01 – Arrival & Kitulgala Birding

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer to Kitulgala (or Adiambalama, depending on arrival time). Spend the afternoon exploring the lush surroundings with your expert birding guide. Listen to the symphony of native and migratory birds as you identify unique species in the forest canopy. Overnight in Kitulgala.

Day 02 – Full Day Kitulgala Birding

After breakfast, continue your full-day birding exploration in the Kitulgala area or the Kelani Valley Forest Reserve. Track elusive species through dense forest trails, observe kingfishers along riverbanks, and spot exotic birds in their natural habitat. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 03 – Travel to Sinharaja

Early morning pre-breakfast birding in the Kitulgala Village, capturing last glimpses of the local avian life. Afterwards, transfer to Sinharaja Forest, stopping for lunch along the way. Spend the late afternoon exploring the forest periphery with your guide, spotting endemic species and learning about their habitats. Dinner and overnight in Sinharaja.

Day 04 – Full Day in Sinharaja Forest

Spend the entire day birding deep within Sinharaja Rainforest, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the island’s richest biodiversity hotspots. Day 05 – Another Day in Sinharaja

Day 06 – Udawalawe Safari & Birding

After breakfast, drive to Udawalawe. Spend the afternoon on a jeep safari exploring the national park, where you can spot both large mammals and a variety of wetland and woodland bird species. Evening at leisure, with an overnight stay near the park

Day 07 – Morning Safari & Nuwara Eliya Transfer

Start the day with a pre-breakfast safari in Udawalawe National Park to catch birds and wildlife in early light. After breakfast, drive to Nuwara Eliya, stopping for birding at scenic spots along the way. In the late afternoon, explore Victoria Park and its highland birds, a perfect blend of town and nature. Day 08 - Horton Plains Birding & Hakgala Gardens

Predawn start for Horton Plains National Park, where you’ll search for highland endemics as mist drifts across dramatic landscapes. Picnic breakfast amidst the park. In the afternoon, visit Hakgala Botanical Garden for more birding in a highland garden setting. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 09 – Kandy & Peradeniya Botanical Gardens

After breakfast, drive to Kandy, visiting a tea factory en route. Explore Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and observe Sri Lanka’s largest flying fox roosts alongside a variety of highland birds. Optional evening visit to Temple of the Tooth Relic or cultural dance performance. Dinner and overnight in Kandy.

Day 10 – Udawattakele Forest & Departure

After early breakfast, explore Udawattakele Forest Reserve, a haven for woodland birds and endemic species. After birding, transfer to a nearby hotel for lunch before your final airport drop-off, leaving with memories of Sri Lanka’s remarkable avian diversity.
